Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 15 Preview

With only two matches in the Katrina Fanning Shield this weekend, the spotlight will be on a top four clash at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval. 

Gungahlin Bulls vs Belconnen United Sharks, Gungahlin Enclosed Oval, Saturday 1st August, 12:00pm 

The Belconnen United Sharks travel to Gungahlin Enclosed for an exciting top four contest against the Gungahlin Bulls. 

The Sharks enter this weekend off the back of an attacking masterclass last round against the Magpies, which included a five try haul from fullback Eliza Taylor, however Reese Paunovic will need to be shut down scoring a hat-trick in the last matchup. 

Meanwhile, the Bulls had the bye last weekend and will be rested and prepared for their most important contest of the season, Molly Sturgiss will hold the keys to the Gungahlin attack scoring nine tries this season. 

In the previous matchup, the Belconnen United Sharks secured a twenty-point victory at home with Gungahlin desperate to overturn the result and claim a critical win their title chances. 

Queanbeyan Blues vs Woden Valley Rams, Seiffert Oval, Saturday 1st August, 10:40am 

The Queanbeyan Blues return home to Seiffert Oval this weekend for an intriguing clash against the Woden Valley Rams. 

The Blues enter this weekend after securing a draw against the West Belconnen Warriors, however, can take confidence from the strong second half lead they held, Payge Salinas will be critical for the Queanbeyan attack guiding them around the park.  

Meanwhile, the Rams rose to third place after their victory against the Bushrangers, with the turnaround in Woden Valley's form coinciding with Lara Cosgrove hitting the heights of last year's season. 

The previous matchup between these two sides saw the Rams claim a strong 22-4 victory, Gypsy Brookman was one of Woden's best on that occasion crossing for a try scoring double.
