Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 16 Wrap

In an exciting Round of the Katrina Fanning Shield the West Belconnen Warriors return to winning ways, whilst the Blues claimed a major upset at home. 

West Belconnen Warriors 28 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 0 

The ladder leading West Belconnen Warriors returned to winning ways this weekend with a comprehensive display against the Tuggeranong Bushrangers at Greenway Oval.

The five try to nil victory saw the premiers flex their muscle, with their physicality in the middle of the park on display and proving too difficult to handle. 

Meanwhile, it was a difficult afternoon for the Bushrangers with the home side unable to register a point, resulting in their eighth loss of the season. 

The Bushrangers have the weekend off in round 17 with the bye, whilst the Warriors prepare for a top of the table clash against their cross-town rivals in the Sharks. 

Queanbeyan Blues 20 def. Gungahlin Bulls 18 

The Queanbeyan Blues secured an upset victory against the Gungahlin Bulls at Seiffert Oval in a hotly contested affair. 

There was no love lost between these two opponents on the weekend, with the home side producing a try in the dying stages to produce victory, Courtney Mapleson proved the difference with a try scoring double. 

Whilst for the Bulls, they missed an opportunity to leapfrog the Rams into third position and will rue their missed conversion attempts, which proved the difference, strike centre Molly Sturgiss tried her best to get her side over with a double of her own. 

The Bulls will look to bounce back immediately with an intriguing top four clash against the Woden Valley Rams, and the Blues strive for two straight victories against the Yass Magpies.
