Katrina Fanning Shield: Round 18 Wrap

It was an exciting round in the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield with tight encounters and high scoring affairs. 

Belconnen United Sharks 24 def. Woden Valley Rams 12 

The Belconnen United Sharks overcame a half-time defecit to claim victory against the Woden Valley Rams at home. 

The twelve point win for the Sharks sees them ascend to the top of the KFS ladder with a round to go, dummy half Jade White was instrumental in claiming the two points with her deception causing the Rams defensive line problems. 

Whilst for the Rams, the loss is their fifth of the season and provides them with an understanding with where they need to work on heading into the finals, Grace Milne impressed once again scoring a double in the defeat. 

The Sharks have the bye in the last round and will rely on a Warriors loss to finish Minor Premiers, whilst the Rams travel to Walker Park to take on the Magpies. 

Queanbeyan Blues 46 def. Tuggeranong Bushrangers 6 

The Queanbeyan Blues claimed a comprehensive victory away from home against the Bushrangers continuing their strong finish to the season. 

Courtney Mapleson returned from injury on the weekend in fine form scoring an impressive five tries, making a strong case to feature in the team of the year. 

Meanwhile, it was a tough afternoon out for the Tuggeranong Bushrangers, Kiralee Eppelstun providing the side with their only highlight, scoring a four pointer. 

With both sides out of finals contention next weekend will be their last game of the season, the Blues face the West Belconnen Warriors and the Bushrangers clash with the Bulls at home. 

Gungahlin Bulls 26 def. Yass Magpies 12

The Gungahlin Bulls charge towards the finals got back on track last weekend with a fourteen-point win over the Yass Magpies at home. 

For the Bulls, a double to centre Molly Sturgiss has ensured the Bulls avoid back-to-back losses on the brink of the final's series. 

Meanwhile, the Magpies weren't able to repeat the heroics of last week, whcih saw them secure their first win of the year, captain Samara Afele led from the front in the middle of the field. 

The Magpies finish their season next weekend against the Woden Valley Rams, whilst the Bulls look to build into their finals campaign when they take on the Bushrangers.
