Katrina Fanning Shield: Washout Round Wrap

Two matches rounded out the regular season of the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield, with an upset handing the Minor Premiership to the Belconnen United Sharks. 

Queanbeyan Blues 34 def. West Belconnen Warriors 18 

The Queanbeyan Blues secured the biggest upset of the season on the weekend, preventing the West Belconnen Warriors from receiving the Minor Premiership. 

In a clinical performance for Queanbeyan, doubles from Klaudia Osztrenkovics and Courtney Mapleson guided the Blues side to their fifth victory of the season, seeing them finish in fifth spot in the year they returned to KFS competition. 

Meanwhile, the loss for the Warriors sees their cross town rivals the Belconnen United Sharks claim the Minor Premiership, as the West Belconnen side were unable to claim the point required, Rosaline Aumale crossed for a double in the defeat. 

Despite the loss, West Belconnen still sit inside the top two and have earnt the double chance as they look to go back-to-back, they face the Belconnen United Sharks on Saturday afternoon. 

Woden Valley Rams 34 def. Yass Magpies 10 

The Woden Valley Rams have charged into the 2026 Finals Series with a comprehensive victory away from home against the Yass Magpies 

Grace Milne's strong season continued on the weekend, with the talented centre proving a handful the Magpies defenders crossing for a hat-trick and extending her season tally to 12. 

Whilst for the Magpies, their disappointing season has come to an end with their tenth defeat of the year which sees them bottom of the ladder, Jenna Cooke was Yass' best once again scoring one of their two tries. 

The Woden Valley Rams now prepare for a do or die final against the Gungahlin Bulls next Sunday afternoon at NSWRL HQ Bruce.
