Souths Logan Magpies v Norths Devils on Sunday at 2:10pm at Davies Park
Souths Logan Coach Josh Hannay has named promising prospect Luke Bateman in the starting side for the Magpies clash with the Norths Devils on Sunday afternoon.
Still elligible for the NYC, Bateman has been blooded into the Intrust Super Cup from the interchange bench however after scoring two fine tries in last week's 24-22 loss to the Mackay Cutters, Hannay has given the 19 year old an opportunity to start the match at lock.
The match shapes as a crucial clash for Souths Logan in that although they are currently sitting in 8th place on the ladder, they face the possibility of being forced out of the top eight with a loss to Norths.
In fact, a win by the Devils, who are currently two points below the Magpies in 10th spot, may see them leapfrog Souths Logan into the top eight so fans can expect a fiercely contested affair.
After a promising start to the year, the Devils have not won since Round 12 and will be looking to avoid their eighth successive loss.
Souths Logan will need to remained focused on on their own form however given that they also have the ability to climb up the Intrust Super Cup ladder with a victory.
