Raiders fan Leslie Girdler has just returned from an “unforgettable experience” thanks to the generosity of our proud sponsor Huawei and their Check-In to Win competition that has been running throughout the year.

After attending a Raiders home game at GIO Stadium and entering the Huawei Check-In to Win competition, Leslie was fortunate enough to win one of the major prizes; an all-expenses trip for two to the NRL Grand Final including flights, accommodation and match transfers.

Given his love for the game of Rugby League, Leslie took her 16 year old son, James , with her from Canberra up to Sydney to enjoy the once in a lifetime experience.

“It was an unforgettable experience and I can’t thank the club and Huawei enough,” Leslie said.

“James and I had a ball. We saw all three games on the day and enjoyed each one. The NRL Grand Final was an awesome game and there was a great atmosphere at the stadium.

“Having our flights and accommodation paid for, plus a private car for the whole trip just topped it all off. It was really special.”

Attending any NRL Grand Final is a memorable experience but attending such a historic Grand Final where they witnessed foundation club the South Sydney Rabbitohs break their 43 year drought was certainly an occasion the pair will never forget.

There was only one element that was missing that would have made the experience all the more better.

“We’re Raiders fans through and through but Souths are probably our second team so it was great to see them win the title,” Leslie said.

“The only thing that was missing from the experience was seeing the Raiders in the Grand Final. That would have been unbelievable.”

Having moved back to Canberra from Griffith this year, Leslie and her family didn’t get around to becoming Members this season, despite attending many games throughout the year.

The generosity of the club and their proud sponsors Huawei has helped sealed the deal for next season however.

“We’ve always supported the Raiders but we didn’t get around to becoming Members this year,” Leslie said. “We will definitely be signing up as Members next year, especially after an experience such as this!

“Huawei are such terrific sponsors of the club and it’s good to see they are committed to the club for next season also.”

The all-expenses trip for two to the NRL Grand Final was the final instalment of the 2014 Huawei ‘Best Seats in the House Competition’ in which fans entered by simply ‘checking-in’.

In addition to Leslie and James attending the NRL Grand Final, earlier in the year Kathleen Beattie won an all-expenses paid trip for two, including flights and accommodation, to State of Origin Game 2 in Sydney, whilst just by entering fans had the opportunity to have their seats upgraded to the Huawei Legends Lounge at each Raiders home game for the year.
