New recruit Blake Austin says that he is under no illusion that he will be a walk up start to the number six jersey and is determined to work as hard as possible to ensure that he is the Raiders starting five-eighth in 2015.

"I want to earn the number six jersey," Austin said.

"There are no favours handed out in the NRL so I want to work as hard as I can to make sure that Ricky thinks I'm the best man for the job and that my new team mates respect his decision."

Having undergone his first week of pre-season training at his new club, Austin has been left thoroughly impressed with the professional set-up at the Raiders and the advanced methods of the Raiders strength and conditioning staff.

The former Panthers and Tigers pivot plans on utilising the training methods and coaching expertise at the club to take his career to new heights in 2015 and build on his break through season last year.

Austin also reveals in the interview the young players that he is been impressed with so far and the Canberra junior club that he may be assisting next year.
