The Canberra Raiders have signed two players to bolster their squad for the remainder of the 2017 season and beyond.

Michael Oldfield (Penrith) and Liam Knight (Roosters) have signed with the club and will join the Raiders effective immediately.

Oldfield, 26, comes to the club with a wealth of experience, having played at NRL level for the Sea Eagles, Roosters, Rabbitohs and most recently the Panthers, as well as a stint for the Catalan Dragons in the English Super League.

An outside back with a high try scoring strike rate, Oldfield has signed with the Green Machine for the remainder of the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

The Raiders have also secured the signature of talented forward Liam Knight from the Roosters, who has been playing for their feeder team Wyong in the Intrust Super Premiership.

Knight, 22, was a standout at NYC level and part of the Manly team which made the grand final in 2015.  He went on to make his NRL debut for the Sea Eagles playing one match in 2016 before joining the Roosters this season. He’s represented NSW at both under 18 and under 20s level.

Knight has signed with the Raiders until the end of the 2019 season.

Canberra Raiders NRL Recruitment & High-Performance Director Peter Mulholland said both Oldfield and Knight would be welcome additions to the NRL squad.

“Michael and Liam are both talented players who we believe will be valuable members of our NRL squad moving forward,” Mulholland said. “Michael brings NRL experience to the squad and can easily slot into the backline if required, while Liam is a very talented young forward who we believe we can develop into an NRL player at the Raiders.”

Both Oldfield and Knight will join the Raiders squad this week.
