Junior Reps Round 7 Preview

S.G. Ball Cup

Canberra Raiders v Western Suburbs Magpies
12:00pm, Saturday March 24 -  Kirkam Park

A 42-24 win over the Manly Sea Eagles last week saw the Raiders move into the top 8 with just three games remaining in the regular season.

This week the side face the winless Western Suburbs Magpies and Raiders Junior High Performance Manager, Dean Souter, believes this puts them in a great position to make the finals.

“We’ll have to put our best foot forward this weekend against Wests,” Souter said. “Then it will come down to how we go against Newcastle and Norths.

“Two out of three wins should get us into the top 8, obviously if we can win all three then we can definitely secure our spot.”

Harold Matthews Cup

Canberra Raiders v Western Suburbs Magpies
10:30am, Saturday March 24 -  Kirkam Park

The Raiders will be hoping to bounce back this week after being beaten by the first place Manly Sea Eagles.

They also face the Western Suburbs Magpies this week, who are locked in a tight battle for one of the eight finals spots and a win for the Raiders would keep their narrow finals hopes alive.

Souter believes the side have come close to claiming wins on a number of occasions but haven’t been able to close out games.

“I think they just need to convert the close losses to wins,” Souter said. “They’re a bunch of kids that have the ability to win games.”

Tarsha Gale Cup

Canberra Raiders v Parramatta Eels
1:00pm, Saturday March 24 -  New Era Stadium

The Raiders face the Eels this week in what should be a close match.

The two sides sit ninth and tenth on the ladder, with both vying for their first win of the season.

The Raiders and Eels will both be aiming to move above the eighth-placed Roosters with a win on Saturday.
