Magpies win big at Seiffert Oval

The Yass Magpies claimed their second win of the season after a strong second half saw them claim a 34-8 over the Queanbeyan Blues at Seiffert Oval.

The Magpies started the first half brightly and found themselves up 12-0 within the opening eight minutes as Gab Suckling and Gabbie Davis both scored tries.

However, the Queanbeyan Blues fought their way back into the match and halfback Alana Brooks opened the scoring for the home side as she ran hard and straight after Jacinta Williams opened up a gap.

The teams entered the sheds with the sore 12-4 but Yass raced out of the blocks once again and it was Suckling who grabbed her double.

Yass halfback Hollie Massey ensured that the Magpies continued to pile on the pressure before a double to Tessa Peace all but sealed the win.

Shaenice Allan scored a late try for the Blues after performing a one on one strip before running through to score but it wasn’t enough as last year’s runners-up sealed a 34-8 win.
