The Yass Magpies will be looking to improve on their 2019 season, with some new recruits and key players returning this year.

Eager for the season to begin, the Magpies have had a number of games to build up match fitness. They hosted the inaugural Yass 9s tournament and had clubs including Renowned United, Gungahlin Bulls and Burrangong Bears participate. They also played in a couple of trial matches against the Camden Rams and the Shellharbour Sharks.

Going into his second year as first grade head coach, Cameron Hardy has recruited a few players into the squad.

Five-eighth Inga Limoni came across from New Zealand rugby league in 2020, but didn’t play any games with the Magpies due to COVID-19. Limoni is set to debut for the club this year. Hooker Dave Barrie and Kyle Danilczak also return to the Magpies this season.

Yass halfback Josh Fattore will partner Limoni in the halves, and will be a key player in the side. Fattore played a handful of games for the Magpies in 2019 as a Canberra Raiders Under 20s allocated player. After the season, Fattore was keen to stay of board and will run out this year for the Yass side.

The Magpies have also retained the services of Noa Vanasi and Willie Peace for the 2021 season. Both players started in the Monaro Country Championships side earlier this year, and will be integral players throughout the season.

Hear from Josh Fattore and KFS player Sami Afele as they preview the 2021 season.
