This Thursday night at GIO Stadium the Raiders would have been hosting the Roosters as part of the Raiders Foundation Game Day, but due to COVID this home game will now be played at BB Print Stadium in Mackay, in front of our some passionate QLD members.
The game day at GIO Stadium would have been a great opportunity to promote the work of the Foundation and to raise valuable funds with a potential crowd of 15,000 members and fans in attendance.
In 2021, the Raiders Foundation established the Don Furner Senior NSW Country Scholarship Program. This scholarship provides a young athlete with support and the opportunity to come to Canberra to develop their talents in Rugby League and to undertake further education. Michael Asomua was the inaugural recipient of this scholarship and the Foundation looks forward to continuing this scholarship program in 2022.
The Foundation is working on our current project – which is to raise funds to assist our bid for a women’s team with our final goal to have Raiders NRLW team in the future. Funds raised will support the Foundation to purchase equipment, establish an academy and scholarship program along with the development of coaching staff.
This major raffle closes at 5pm on Wednesday, 1 September 2021 so if you’re dreaming about winning a new car or a holiday, jump not onto the website and purchase your tickets now, with only one day to go.
While we all wish we were all able to head to the game and watch the action live on Thursday night, we now have to sit back in our lounges and watch the mighty green machine take on the Roosters.
