After a narrow 36-22 loss at the hands of Newtown Jets in the NSW Cup last weekend, the Raiders will be looking to record their first win of the season when they come up against Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs at 4:00pm on Sunday at Accor Stadium, Sydney.
Despite the disappointing result in round one there were still numerous moments to savour for Raiders fans, with Xavier Savage’s two tries and 188 run metres a pleasing performance for both the youngster and the club.
Following changes in the first-grade team there will be a few new faces following last weekend’s match, with the most notable being Sebastian Kris who will make his season debut at five-eighth.
Albert Hopoate and Peter Hola will both also play their first matches of the season, whilst Toby Thorburn is scheduled to start at hooker in place of Adrian Trevilyan who will make his first-grade debut against the Cowboys in Townsville.
Despite multiple players being called up to first grade this weekend the side still features plenty of promising youth, whilst the experienced Ryan Sutton and Sam Williams are also ready to help the side record their first win of the season.
The Bulldogs will be heading into the match full of confidence, defeating South Sydney last weekend 24-16.
Despite both sides scoring four tries in that fixture, it was the goalkicking of Kyle Flanagan which got them the two points, with the young halfback again headlining their team on Saturday.

The Jersey Flegg side will also be looking to bounce back from a disappointing result after falling 42-24 to the Sharks last weekend.
Despite only being four points behind in the 50th minute the Raiders unfortunately couldn’t hold on in the attacking affair, with the Sharks scoring three of the last four tries to seal victory.
Rayden Burns will return at fullback after receiving a late call up to replace Jarrod Croker in the NSW Cup side last week, with Kaden Williams and Thomas Casey also scheduled to join the starting 17.
Our opponents the Bulldogs were again able to open their season with a victory last weekend, defeating South Sydney 30-16.
Wingers Sam Kanaan and Compton Fuatimau both scored twice against the Rabbitohs, with a strong defensive game from Raiders wingers Steven Numambo and Temple Beauchamp against the Bulldogs likely to go a long way to helping the team secure a first victory of the season.
