Junior Reps Round Eight Wrap

The Raiders Harold Matthews and Tarsha Gale teams both recorded strong wins over the weekend, while the SG Ball side suffered a heart-breaking loss. 

Harold Matthews Cup

The Raiders Harold Matthews Cup side claimed an impressive 40 point win over the Bears at Raiders Belconnen on Sunday. 

The Raiders are now sitting in fourth place with one round remaining, with the side locking in a top six finish for finals. 

It was a wonderful attack display by the side, running in nine tries to the Bears two. 

Siamani Leuluai, Elvis Nauer-Wood, Jack Clutterbuck, Ethan Alaia, Sam Chapman, Owen Hromow and Noah Martin all scored tries in the first half, giving the Raiders a 38-0 lead at half-time. 

Leuluai got his second try of the game right after the break, with Samuel Gash picking up the final try for the Raiders. 

Gash also kicked seven from nine conversions during the game. 

The Harold Matts side take on the Eels this Saturday 9 April at New Era Stadium in Sydney.

Tarsha Gale Cup

The Raiders Tarsha Gale side notched up their second win of the season with a 20-12 win over the Bears at Raiders Belconnen. 

The Raiders side trailed by two points at half-time, but were able to turn things around in the second half to claim the win. 

The home side were first on the scoreboard, with fullback Georgia Willey scoring in the seventh minute and Makayla Morris converting. 

The Bears hit back with three straight tries to Serenity Mahoni, Sienna Williams and Chloe Jackson, putting the Bears ahead 12-6. 

But the Raiders were able to gain some momentum at the back end of the first half, with centre Alanna Dummett crossing for a try to make it 12-10 at half-time. 

Raiders second-rower Roxy Horne scored a try just after the half-time break, with Morris successfully converting to skip ahead 16-12. 

Willey picked up her second try of the day to extend the Raiders lead to 20-12.

The Raiders Tarsha Gale team take on the Eels on Saturday in Sydney. 

SG Ball Cup 

The Raiders SG Ball Cup side suffered a heart-breaking two point loss on Sunday at Raiders Belconnen. 

The Bears levelled the scores in the final minute, with fullback Darcy Brettle nailing the conversion to win the game. 

The Raiders jumped to an early 6-0 lead after a try to centre Deakin Bright and conversion to Corey Lewis. 

The Sydney side hit back two minutes later, with Brettle scoring and then converting his own try to level the scores at 6-6. 

Raiders second-rower Kylan Mafoa scored next with Lewis converting, before Bears lock Matthew Newlyn picked up a try. Brettle added the two points to make it 12-12. 

The Raiders were able to hit the lead just before half-time with winger Regan Carr scoring a try to put his side ahead 16-12 at the break. 

It was a tight tussle during the second half with no points coming until the 69th minute, when Brettle scored his second try of the day and converted to seal the win.
