NSW Cup & Jersey Flegg Round 11 Preview

The Canberra Raiders NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg sides return after two weeks off to take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Sydney this Saturday.

The Raiders NSW Cup side will travel to Ironmark High Performance Centre to take on the Rabbitohs in a top eight showdown.

The Raiders have named James Schiller to start at fullback with Albert Hopoate shifting to the wing.

Adrian Trevilyan will start at hooker with Harry Rushton named at lock.

The Raiders were dominant in their last match, securing a 28-4 win over the Eels in round eight.

Young gun Albert Hopoate has become a key member of the Raiders NSW Cup side and proved that in his amazing performance against the Eels. Hopoate scored two tries in that game and is averaging 136 running metres in his first five appearances this season.

Trey Mooney was also phenomenal in the Raiders win over the Eels, with the back-rower running for 167 metres and crossing over for his fourth try of the season.

The Raiders currently sit in seventh on the ladder with four wins and four losses in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs have been impressive this season and are currently sitting in fourth spot on the ladder. The Rabbitohs are on a four-game winning streak and will be wanting to make it a fifth straight win.

The Raiders will be keen to put in a good performance this weekend as a win could cement their spot in the top eight. Meanwhile, a win for the Rabbitohs will keep them in the top four.

The green machine will have a big task ahead of them this Saturday but will have plenty of confidence after such a great win over the Eels.

The Raiders Jersey Flegg side will also travel to Sydney to take on the Rabbitohs on Saturday before the NSW Cup game, with kickoff at 12pm.

Joshua Pokoney has been named on the wing while Jed Stuart starts in the second row.

It's been an up and down season for the Raiders as they try to find some consistency. However, the green machine will be confident going into this game off the back of a great win over the Eels in round eight.

Sione Vuki was great for the Raiders in their 30-6 win over the Eels, scoring a try and kicking three conversions.

Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs currently sit in last position and are on a four-game losing streak which included a 36-10 loss to the Knights in their last match.

Both teams will be desperate for a win this weekend to try and start a run of form as the competition enters the midway point of the season. The Raiders will be hoping to make it two wins in a row and jump into the top eight.
