Katrina Fanning Shield 2022: Round 5 Preview

Round five of the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Shield kicks off this Saturday which includes a huge clash between two of the competition front-runners, Goulburn City Bulldogs and Queanbeyan Blues.

Woden Valley Rams vs Boomanulla Raiders, Phillip Oval, 9:30am Saturday 28th May

The Rams and the Raiders will be hoping to turn their form around after both sides went down last weekend.

The Rams still currently sit in third on the ladder after suffering their first loss last weekend. The Rams lost 32-16 to the Bulldogs in round four as they were blown off the park in Goulburn. However the Rams still sit with a 3-1 record to start the season and will be confident they can turn it around.

Meanwhile, the Raiders were beaten 82-0 last weekend by Yass as they failed to create any momentum up against the top of the table Magpies.

With the season still young, both teams will be confident they can turn their form around after losses last weekend. A win for the Rams could put them inside the top two, while the Raiders will be hoping to secure their first win of the season.

UC Stars vs Harden Worhawks, Raiders Belconnen, 12:00pm Saturday 28th May

The UC Stars will be hoping to bounce back as they return home to take on the Worhawks in the first game of a triple header at Raiders Belconnen.

The Stars currently sit in sixth place with a 1-2 record to start the season which included a disappointing 32-0 defeat last weekend. The Stars were outclassed by the Bushrangers as they failed to score any points for the second time this season.

Unfortunately the Worhawks also went down last week, suffering a disappointing 22-10 loss against South Coast United.

The Worhawks have had a tough draw to start the season, as their opening three games have resulted in losses to three teams who currently sit inside the top four.

Harden will be desperate for their first win of the season. They will be confident they can compete with a Stars team who have had a rollercoaster start to the season.

Queanbeyan Blues vs Goulburn City Bulldogs, Seiffert Oval, 12:00pm Saturday 28th May

The Blues will return home after their round four bye to take on the Bulldogs, who will be very confident after securing their first win of 2022.

The Blues currently sit in second place with two wins from two matches so far this season with wins over South Coast United and the Worhawks.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will be coming into this game confident after knocking off the third placed Rams last weekend. The Bulldogs blew the Rams off the park in front of a big crowd for their ‘Ladies Day’.

The Bulldogs have scored 50 points in their opening two games after a disrupted start to the season. Their attack will have to be just as lethal against the Blues who have yet to concede a point in the competition so far.

A big win for the Blues could see them go to the top of the ladder, but the Bulldogs will be hopeful of securing a top four spot with a second consecutive win.

Yass Magpies vs South Coast United - Match Abandoned

This match has resulted in a forfeit for round five of the KFS and won't be played this Saturday.
