The Knock-On Effect Raiders NSW Cup team suffered a narrow 36-28 loss against the Dragons at Seiffert Oval.
The Raiders were the first to cross the line off the back of a strong effort from Manaia Waitere.
Within the space of three minutes, the Raiders crossed the line again with some strong running from Jordan Martin, who muscled his way to the try-line.
The Dragons had to respond quickly, and they did with two back-to-back tries to narrow the 12-10 deficit.
From there, the Green Machine turned it on before the end of the half with tries from Chevy Stewart and Ethan Sanders to go into the break with a 24-10 lead.
It was all the Dragons in the second half as they recorded four tries in a row to come from behind and lead 36-24.
Ethan Alaia scored just before full time, but it was too little too late for the Raiders as they recorded a tough 36-28 loss.
The Raiders will be looking to bounce back when they take on the Sydney Roosters at Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Jersey Flegg Cup
The Raiders Jersey Flegg side have recorded their third straight win with a fantastic 38-28 win against the Dragons.
It was the Raiders who opened the scoring, with Tim Carson scoring within the first minute of the game.
Within four minutes, Regan Carr proved to be too strong as he muscled his way to the line to establish an early 10-0 lead.
The Dragons responded late in the first half, scoring three tries in a row with Isaiah Fagalilo scoring just before the siren to give the Dragons a 16-10 lead going into the break.
The Dragons came out of the break aiming to push their lead and did with Lyric Craft-Te Moananui scoring to give the Dragons a 20-10 lead.
Both the Raiders and Dragons traded tries with Mutua Brown crossing the line and Saifiti Junior Saifiti pushing their lead to 24-16.
With just 20 minutes remaining in the half, the Raiders switched on and scored 22 points with both Brown and Carr securing doubles to climb back and give the Raiders a 38-24 lead.
It was too little, too late for the Dragons as Craft-Te Moananui scored to give the Raiders a gritty 38-28 win.
The Raiders will take on the Sydney Roosters at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence on Sunday at noon.
