Key Matchup:
Hollie-Mae Dodd v Yasmin Clydsdale
These two standout second rowers have emerged as key players for their respective clubs, each bringing distinct strengths to the field.
Dodd made history in 2023 as the first English player to join the NRLW when she signed with the Raiders. Her ability to run the ball with power and read defensive plays has made her a valuable asset to Canberra’s forward pack. This season, she has already crossed for a try and made 122 tackles, highlighting her versatility in attack and defence.
She also boasts international experience, having represented England on multiple occasions, including a test match against the Jillaroos earlier this year. Exposure to different coaching styles at the international level has further sharpened her game sense and on field intelligence in Raiders colours.
Clydsdale has also made her mark on the international stage, representing Australia in Rugby 7s and the Jillaroos, as well as New South Wales in State of Origin. With a career spanning over six years and 43 NRLW appearances, she brings a wealth of experience to the field. As captain of the Knights, she leads with intelligence and composure, and was an instrumental member of their 2022 premiership winning side.
Regarded as one of the most powerful second rowers in the game, Clydsdale claimed back-to-back NRLW Second Rower of the Year titles in 2023 and 2024. Her consistency and ability to deliver high quality performances week after week make her a reliable force on the edge, capable of executing under any circumstances.
This matchup promises to be a must watch when these two talents face off this Sunday afternoon.
