The Monaro Colts endured a mixed start to their 2026 campaigns with the Andrew Johns side tasting victory in their opening match, whilst the Regional Lisa Fiaola and Laurie Daley Cup teams suffered defeat.
Regional Lisa Fiaola Cup (U17s)
Northern Rivers Titans 26 def. Monaro Colts 8
The Northern Rivers Titans delivered a professional performance to defeat the Monaro Colts in the Regional Lisa Fiaola Cup, however there were positives for the home side in the defeat.
The Titans shot out to an early ten-point lead before tries to Teyah Casey and Bonnie Lever pulled the Colts back into the contest to trail by two points, with goal difference proving the difference at half-time.
In a see-sawing opening to the second half, Monaro created opportunities to break the game open in their favour, however the last pass was unable to be executed.
After defending multiple sets on their own try line, the Titans marched down the field and scored three unanswered tries, courtesy of Charlee Daley, Indy Slattery and Taminya Browning to ensure they walked away with the victory.
Despite suffering defeat, the Colts will take plenty of positives after this weekend's performance and look to open their 2026 campaign when they travel to Port Macquarie to take on the North Coast Bulldogs next Saturday.
Andrew Johns Cup (U16s)
Monaro Colts 30 def. Northern Rivers Titans 10
The Monaro Colts started their 2026 Andrew Johns Cup campaign in blistering fashion securing a dominate victory against the Northern Rivers Titans.
The Colts began the contest in strong fashion with a double to Kai Bolton in the opening six minutes, the second a length of the field effort highlighted by a scintillating line break from centre Cayden Cross.
Isaac Harwood extended the home sides lead to 16-0, before a long-range effort from Boston Long reduced the half time deficit.
Despite conceding right on the half time siren, the Colts bounced into the second half scoring the opening try through five-eighth Jaxon Kovacevic, before Logan Bateup hit back for the Titans.
Monaro would diminish any thought of a Northern Rivers comeback with consecutive tries to Joel Trevethan and Conan Vaana putting the result beyond doubt.
The Colts have the bye in Round Two and will face the Macarthur Wests Tigers away from home in Round Three.
Laurie Daley Cup (U18s)
Northern Rivers Titans 34 def. Monaro Colts 16
The Northern Rivers Titans secured a comprehensive victory over the Monaro Colts in the opening round of the Laurie Daley Cup.
Three tries in the opening 15 minutes set up the game for the visitors and placed Monaro on the back foot in sweltering conditions at Seiffert Oval.
Ben Gasnier was a shining light for the Colts, with the rangy back rower scoring two tries in his return from injury which brought his side back into the match.
However, the Titans proved to have too much quality for the Colts scoring three unanswered tries through Cruz Sewell, Max Fife and Elijah Galloway to claim a strong Round One victory.
The Colts will have rest in Round Two courtesy of a bye, before facing the Macarthur Wests Tigers in Round Three.
