Katrina Fanning Shield: Round Five Wrap

Round Five of the Katrina Fanning Shield saw one side remain undefeated, whilst another claims their first victory of the season.

West Belconnen Warriors 26 def. Gungahlin Bulls 14

The West Belconnen Warriors claimed their fifth win of the season on Saturday afternoon against a valiant Gungahlin Bulls outfit at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval.

Halfback Janiana Ravu continued her strong individual start to the season with a double, whilst new recruit Uatisonepoka made an immediate impact crossing the line on two separate occasions.

For the Bulls, the loss will provide them with plenty of confidence, being within six points in the last fifteen minutes, Molly Sturgiss continued to be the Bulls best, scoring a try in the defeat.

The Bulls remain at home this weekend for a matchup against the Queanbeyan Blues, whilst the Warriors return home to face the Bushrangers.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 16 def. Yass Magpies 8

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers secured their first victory of the 2026 season against the Yass Magpies at home last weekend with a tight eight-point win.

In a tightly contested match, points were at a premium with tries to Adelaide Norris, Milika Tuinakauvadra and Siena Nehua proving the difference for the home side.

Meanwhile, for the Magpies the loss sees them remain winless in 2026, Sydney Harrison's impressive form, despite her team's resulted remained, with the dummy half crossing for a try.

The Bushrangers will look for back-to-back wins next weekend against the West Belconnen Warriors away from home, whilst the Yass Magpies have the bye.
