Red Alert host Joel Edwards heads out to Taylor Primary School with Sami Sauiluma to deliver the Raiders Recess program. Joel interviews and gets interviewed by several students afterwards.

Raiders Recess is a program that is proudly supported by ACT Health and sees Raiders players heading to Primary Schools across the region to promote healthy lifestyles amongst children.

On Thursday, 16 schools were visited by the Raiders NRL squad, with each child who attended the program receiving a Raiders Recess book, which includes tips on eating healthy, exercising and making sure children drink enough water throughout the day through the ‘Tap into Water Every day’ campaign.

Raiders stars Josh McCrone and Dane Tilse joined children at St Anthony’s primary School in Wanniassa, where they went through the Raiders Recess book with the children and participated in some lunch time activities to get the children exercising.

McCrone said the Raiders Recess program is there to show children how important it is to make sure you live a healthy lifestyle, while at the same time having fun.

“Being healthy and active is so important for children and this program allows us to use our profiles to help spread the word in ACT Schools,” McCrone said. “Hopefully the kids here today can take plenty away from the visit and become increasingly healthy and active as a result.

The Raiders Recess program is part of an initiative with ACT Health, with the Raiders visiting 30 Schools and over 10,000 children in the region.
