In just his third year of first grade, Paul Vaughan continued to remain an integral member of Ricky Stuart’s top 17, playing in every game in 2015. A strong, well-built forward, Vaughan’s aggression in defence and ability to bend the defensive line with his carries in attack enhance his reputation with every game.
Living up to his reputation as a workhorse, Vaughan finished the season as the Raiders best in runs and metres gained. Vaughan’s season highlight was his destructive two try performance in the Raiders victory over the Panthers in Round 20.
Vaughan benefitted from the leadership provided by new recruit Sia Soliola in 2015. Having come through the Raiders junior grades it is easy to forget Vaughan is only 24 years old. The reduction in interchanges in 2016 will suit Vaughan and his powerful running game.
Vaughan was again selected for Country Origin in 2015, following his first selection in 2014. Vaughan will be keen to stake his claim for further representative duties in 2016.
Vaughan is contracted to the Raiders until the end of 2017 and is a popular member of the team.
