The Canberra Raiders newest recruit as Viking Ambassador is The Hon. Bronnie Taylor MLC, Parliamentary Secretary for the Deputy Premier and Southern NSW.

Mrs Taylor who is from Nimmitabel on the Monaro, will blow the Raiders Viking Horn on Friday night to help send the team into battle against the Dragons.

Mrs Taylor said today “I am so pleased to be an Ambassador for the Viking Clap and the Raiders.  I am very passionate about regional and rural southern NSW and know that the Canberra Raiders have a strong alliance with my region and its players”.

The Canberra Region Joint Organisation works closely with the Canberra Raiders and acknowledges how important this Club is to the communities of Southern NSW.

Mr Dean Lynch, Administrator of the Snowy Monaro Regional Council and member of the CBRJO said “The Canberra Raiders are the only inland rugby league team and I know they foster relationships with regional clubs across the Canberra region.”

“With the likes of Jarrod Croker from Goulburn who is a great Ambassador for Southern NSW, the region is well placed to continue to encourage and support regional rugby league players of the future,” Mr Lynch said.

Today, Mrs Taylor and Mr Lynch were on hand to meet players from regional areas and discuss how they can work with the Canberra Raiders to support cross regional collaboration.  The Canberra Raiders are the only NRL team located inland who is not on the coast or major city and we’re proud to have them represent our region as a sporting leader.”

Mrs Taylor supports the objectives of the players which is to promote and develop the game of Rugby League in the ACT and surrounding Regions.  “As I represent all southern NSW with a catchment of over 700,000 people, the work that the Canberra Raiders are doing to promote the game and sportsmanship underpins the sustainability and continuity of Clubs across our regions,” Mrs Taylor said.

Canberra Raiders CEO, Mr Don Furner, said that he was thrilled to have Mrs Taylor be an Ambassador for the Viking Clap and acknowledges her passion and commitment for regional NSW.

“The Raiders have always been about the whole region around us not just the ACT and we’re proud to be recognised as the Country club of the NRL. We’re looking forward to having Bronnie Taylor as our Viking Ambassador on Friday night, as we continue to work towards strengthening the relationship between the Raiders and the regional areas we continue to service, as we support the community which supports us.”
