Canberra Raiders Wheelchair Rugby League team through to Grand Final

The Canberra Raiders Wheelchair Rugby League team is set to play in the NSW Cup grand final this weekend against the St George Illawarra Dragons team.

The Raiders side has enjoyed a highly successful 2021 season in the New South Wales Wheelchair Rugby League's premier competition, the NSW Cup.

They qualified for this weekend's grand final after a convincing win over the Parramatta Eels in last weekend's elimination semi-final.

The team features a range of players who were selected for representative duties this year including captain Brad Grove (Australia Wheelaroos, NSW Blues, Country), Diab Karim (Australia Wheelaroos, NSW Blues, Country), Edge Iole (Australia Wheelaroos, NSW Blues, City), Tim Robinson (NSW Blues, City), Wessam Bakkour (City) and Jessi Mowczan (NSWWRL Development).

Season highlights include their convincing semi-final victory over the Parramatta Eels and the development of several players who have been selected in representative teams for the first time, including Tim Robinson (NSW) and the outstanding progress of junior participant Jessie Mowczan who was selected in the NSW Development team and has a promising future in the sport.

The grand final takes place this Sunday 30 May at the Menai Indoor Sports Centre, with the Raiders v Dragons match starting at 5pm.
