Katrina Fanning Shield 2022: Round 10 Wrap

The Yass Magpies have continued to edge further away from the rest of the competition, making it nine wins on the trot to wrap-up round ten of the Katrina Fanning Shield.

Yass Magpies 20 d Goulburn City Bulldogs 0

The joint minor-premiers of 2021 met for the second time this season, with the Yass Magpies collecting the clean sweep, running out 20-nil winners over the Goulburn City Bulldogs.

The Magpies have continued their undefeated run in the KFS in style, their defence on showcase as they shut out the second-placed Bulldogs at Workers Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Usual Yass centre Alanna Dummett filled in at halfback on the weekend and didn't look out of place, crossing over for a double in the second half.

Tijana Zdravevska and Kaitlyn Andrews both converted a goal each to wrack-up 20 unanswered points, solidifying their premiership favourtism.

Yass will now have the week off while all teams head to Raiders Belconnen for the annual KFS Magic Round. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back when they take on Boomanulla.

Woden Valley Rams 16 d Tuggeranong Bushrangers 12

The Woden Valley Rams have hung on to come away with a tight four point victory over thier south-side neighbours, Tuggeranong, on Saturday morning.

The Bushies were the first to strike through hooker Zoe Podmore, who caught the markers off-guard and dove over from dummy half to open the scoring.

Woden then responded, running in three straight tries to set-up the remainder of the match for the home side.

Despite a late try to Tuggeranong centre Grace Tai, it wasn't enough for the visitors who now drop to sixth on the ladder.

The Rams will look to leapfrog into second place with a win over South Coast while the Bushrangers will take on Harden on Saturday afternoon.

Queanbeyan Blues 70 d Harden Worhawks

The Blues have wracked up a huge win over the out-of-towners Harden, piling on 70 unanswered points to improve their for and against heading into the Magic Round this weekend.

Blues centre Klaudia Osztrenkovics starred in Queanbeyan's big win, scoring four tries on the right edge.

Payge Louise-Condon also bagged a double and kicked ten conversions in the side's 70 point victory.

The Blues only problem this season has been closing out games, having not defeated a team above them on the ladder in 2022.

Unfortunately they won't get their next chance of putting those headlines to bed until they take on Goulburn at GIO Stadium on Sunday 14th August.

Until then, the Blues will face UC twice, Boomanulla and a bye round, likely to cement their position in the top four.

Harden will look to bounce back this weekend when they take on Tuggeranong for a push towards the top five.

South Coast United 30 d UC Stars 10

South Coast have made it two wins a row, closing out back to back games of 30 plus point performances.

Strangely enough, the South Coast side haven't hosted a home game out of Mackay Park since their round four win over Harden on the 22nd May.

But it hasn't stopped the fresh face of the competition from succeeding, as they currently sit inside the top five heading into the final stage of the season before finals.

UC's struggles continued, falling to their third straight loss on the weekend after conceding heavy defeats to top of the table Yass and Goulburn.

Unfortunately UC's luck doesn't get any easier, as their upcoming schedule includes the Blues twice, followed by Yass.

They will need to improve their defence as they're still right in contention for that fifth spot heading into the finals series.
