Katrina Fanning Shield 2022: Round 11 Preview

The Katrina Fanning Shield continues its run home to the finals this weekend, with just the two matches as five teams enjoy a week off.

It will be a shortened round as the Goulburn City Bulldogs, UC Stars, South Coast United, Harden Worhawks and Queanbeyan Blues all have a bye.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers v Yass Magpies, Greenway Oval, Saturday 23rd July 10:45am.

The Bushrangers will be looking for back to back wins this weekend against the undefeated Magpies who enjoyed a week off.

The Bushrangers remain in sixth after last weekend's win, tied with South Coast United in fifth.

It was a great performance by the Bushrangers against the Worhawks at Magic Round, securing a 38-4 win.

Backrower Alai Lokenin led the way for the Bushrangers as she crossed over for two tries.

This will be a great test for Tuggeranong who are on the hunt for fifth spot, and will enjoy the challenge of taking on the ladder leaders who will be well rested.

The Magpies hold a comfortable four point lead on top of the ladder and have been consistent all season.

Although with three teams hunting their tail within the top four, the minor premiership is still up for grabs.

Yass will have to come prepared as the Bushrangers will be planning an ambush at Greenway Oval on Saturday.

Boomanulla Raiders v Woden Valley Rams, Boomanulla Oval, Saturday 23rd July 1:10pm.

The Raiders will be hoping that a return home can help them win their first match this season, but it will be a tough challenge against the top four bound Rams.

It’s been a disappointing season for the Raiders who will be wanting to get their first win and create some momentum going into the final rounds of the season.

Meanwhile, the Rams will want to put in a good performance as well as they sit tied in second with the Bulldogs.

Unfortunately the Rams disrupted season continues after United forfeited their match at Magic Round last weekend.

The Rams will see this as a huge chance to push into that top two but won’t want to take the Raiders for granted, who are hoping a return home could spark an upset win.
