Canberra Raiders Cup: Round 14 Wrap

Round 14 of the Canberra Raiders Cup is done and dusted, with a few results set to shake up the ladder entering the final four weeks of the competition.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 28 d Yass Magpies 10

The Bushrangers have made it two in a row with a 28-10 victory over the Yass Magpies, to all but cement their top four position on the Canberra Raiders Cup ladder.

It only took two minutes for the Bushies to cross over, when Darby Medlyn threw a beautiful pass to a sweeping Jack Davidson to open the scoring.

Yass hit straight back through their halfback Josh Fattore, who stepped off his right foot to score only five minutes later.

But it was all Tuggeranong for the remaining 70 minutes, with fullback Davidson starring in the show, crossing for a hattrick to lead his side to victory.

The Bushrangers will now travel to West Belconnen to take on the Warriors this Sunday in an attempt to edge closer to the minor premiership.

Yass will return home this Saturday to host the Queanbeyan Roos where they'll look for their first win since round four.

Belconnen United Sharks 44 d Gungahlin Bulls 28

The Belconnen United Sharks have kept their finals hopes alive with an important win over the Bulls at Gungahlin on Saturday afternoon.

The Sharks have had one of their best attacking performance of the season, piling on 44 points on the road.

The Bulls jumped out to an early 18-10 lead until the Sharks hit the go button, scoring 22 unanswered points to place themselves in the box seat to win the game.

The Sharks now sit sixth on the ladder, tied with Goulburn on 12 points, where they still trail the Bushrangers by five points with only four weeks remaining in the competition.

Their biggest test may be this weekend when they take on powerhouse Queanbeyan Blues at Seiffert Oval this Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Bulls will have the week off due to the bye round and set their eyes on a round 16 match-up against the Kangaroos.

Queanbeyan Kangaroos 38 d Queanbeyan Blues 22

The Roos have got one back on their Queanbeyan neighbours, running away with a 38-22 win at home on Saturday afternoon.

In what was an anticipated match-up between former Raiders halves Terry Campese and Sam Williams, Williams had the last laugh as he suited up in his first Queanbeyan derby and took the win.

Although it was Williams' halves partner Thomas Casey who stole the show, scoring a double and recording two try assists.

This was a massive turn around for the Roos who lost the first Queanbeyan derby back in May 64-10 to a red-hot Blues outfit at Seiffert Oval.

This uncharacteristic loss from the Blues applies a bit of pressure on where they will finish on the ladder, with the Bushrangers and Rams hunting their tail for a top two finish.

The Blues will now turn their attention to the Sharks, who will be up for the task as they continue playing for their season.

The Roos will look to make it two from two when they take on Yass at Walker Park.

Woden Valley Rams 22 d West Belconnen Warriors 12

The Rams have shook-up the top four with a huge 22-12 upset win over the top of table Warriors at Raiders Belconnen on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams put in a great 80-minute performance to seal the narrow ten-point win on the road.

The Rams were without some key personnel in their forward pack but went on to win through some great leadership up-front from Joel Ambrose and Jesse Martin.

In what was a see-sawing contest, the Rams sealed the win with a try out of dummy-half from hooker Kosta Posantzis in the final minutes.

The Rams will return home and look to edge closer to a minor premiership when they take on Goulburn at Phillip Oval this Saturday.

The Warriors will have another tough task in the Bushrangers come this Sunday, where they'll host back to back home games to try and hold their one point lead on top of the ladder.
