Team of the Year 2023: Second Row

Congratulations to Jesse Dent of the Queanbeyan Kangaroos for his selection at second row in the 2023 Canberra Raiders Cup Team of the Year.

Dent was a standout player in the Roos premiership side this year, providing a point of difference in every game.

His high energy and work rate along with his unlimited motor, made him one of the most consistent top performers in the Canberra Raiders Cup.

Jesse scored 12 tries in 19 games this season, the fourth most in the competition, which mainly came from his ability to bounce out of tackles and rack up post contact metres with powerful leg drive.

On top of performing well all year, Dent was particularly impressive in the grand final, proving to be an uncontainable presence and playing a big part in their 34-6 victory.

This grand final triumph marked a special day for the Queanbeyan Kangaroos junior, as he celebrated the achievement with lifelong teammates Kaine Pagura, Lachlan Ingram, and Bayley Hitchcock, who have been playing together for the Roos since under 6s.

Dent seamlessly fits into the Team of the Year, as his qualities contrast with those of his second-row partner, Tupuola, while complimenting the overall squad.
