Katrina Fanning Shield: Round One Wrap

Round One of the Blumers Lawyers Katrina Fanning Sheild, saw last year's Grand Finalists flex their muscle securing comprehensive victories to star their campaign, whilst two finals contenders couldn't be split at Greenway.

Tuggeranong Bushrangers 24 draw Gungahlin Bulls

The Tuggeranong Bushrangers and Gungahlin Bulls played out a 24 all draw at Gungahlin Enclosed Oval.

In a highly anticipated match neither side was willing to give an inch as five tries and two conversions each saw the scores level at full time.

Bushrangers Captain Coach Teliya Hetaraka hit the ground running for her side crossing the line for a double, whilst Bulls Centre Molly Sturgiss also secured a try scoring double, including the try which locked the match up.

The Bushrangers will look to build on their momentum next weekend against the Belconnen United Sharks whilst the Gungahlin Bulls have the bye.

West Belconnen Warriors 46 def. Yass Magpies 10

The West Belconnen Warriors have kicked off their premiership defence in style last Saturday with a strong 36-point victory against the Yass Magpies away from home.

In an all-round team performance, which included nine individual try scorers, the Warriors announced themselves as the team to beat once again in 2026.

Meanwhile, it's a difficult start to the season for the new look Magpies side, however there were plenty of positives to take from the match, including tries from Mini White and Bronnie Pollack.

Both the Magpies and the Warriors have the bye in Round Two before matchups against the Rams and Magpies respectively in Round Three.

Belconnen United Sharks 50 def. Queanbeyan Blues 0

The Belconnen United Sharks bounced back after last year's Grand Final defeat in dominate fashion securing a strong victory against the Queanbeyan Blues.

Led by outside back Eliza Taylor who crossed for four tries, the Sharks reaffirmed their position as a title contender this season.

For the Blues, it was a difficult afternoon out in their return to the KFS competition, however they will aim to learn from the outing and improve their next match.

The Sharks will look to secure back-to-back wins next weekend against the Bushrangers at home, whilst the Blues have the next two rounds off with the bye.
